Joan F. Lane has been a director of McClatchy since March 1989. She is currently a special assistant to the board of trustees and to the president of Stanford University. She served on the board of directors of the James Irvine Foundation from 1990 to 2001 and the Brown Group, Inc. from 1985 to 1996. From 1984 to 1991, she was a trustee of the San Francisco Foundation.
