Henry H Uihlein Sr

Henry Uihlein was born and raised in Milwaukee and was introduced at age 16 to his future wife, Marion "Polly" Strauss, Richard said. Henry Uihlein needed his mother's legal consent to wed at 20 because he wasn't yet an adult, according to Richard. Henry and Polly were married for 69 years. Uihlein played football at the University of Virginia and served as a Marine in the South Pacific during World War II, according to his death notice. He played semi-professional hockey in the 1940s and 1950s for the Milwaukee Flyers and, after promoting youth hockey in Milwaukee, was inducted into the Wisconsin Hockey Hall of Fame, the notice says. He had a lifelong affection for Montana, stemming from working there as a wrangler as a teen. After retiring from U-Line, Uihlein worked for 13 years at Service Corp of Retired Executives, a nonprofit association that provides assistance to small-business owners. He worked at SCORE until age 84. Uihlein is survived by his wife; Richard and three other sons, Henry Jr., Christopher and Philip; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Claudia and Herman Uihlein, brothers John and Herman, and sisters Mary, Helen and Claudia (Mitzy).
