David C Haley

David C. Haley is president of HBK Capital Management. Mr. Haley’s leadership responsibilities include firm-wide management, strategic planning, and global oversight of all business operations. He also serves as chair of the firm’s Risk Management Committee. Before being appointed by HBK Management LLC to serve as president in 2007, Mr. Haley managed HBK’s U.S. and European leveraged finance businesses, including investments in high-yield, distressed bonds and bank debt. Mr. Haley joined HBK in 1994 as a member of the event-driven equities business prior to launching the firm’s leveraged finance business in 1998. He began his career in 1986 in the corporate and securities section of Andrews Kurth LLP where he became partner and focused on transactional and governance matters related to securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate bankruptcies and restructurings. Mr. Haley is chair of the board of directors and an executive committee member of the Managed Funds Association (MFA), an organization that advocates for sound alternative investment industry practices and public policies. Mr. Haley is an active supporter of educational initiatives that foster the advancement of learning, achievement and service. Notably, he serves on the Advisory Board of the Alternative Asset Management Center at Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business, which readies students for careers in finance. Mr. Haley is also a member of the Investment Committee of Cistercian Preparatory School where he spent six years on the school board and served as sustentation chair. Additionally, he serves as national chair of the Duke University Parents Committee and has served on various task forces and committees for his alma mater, Harvard University. Mr. Haley is also a member of the board of trustees and executive committee for the Southwestern Medical Foundation, which supports the activities of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Mr. Haley received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1986 where he was editor-in-chief of the law review and a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar. He earned his A.B. in social studies, magna cum laude, from Harvard College in 1983. Mr. Haley is a licensed attorney and a member of the State Bar of Texas.
