Tim Carter

Tim Carter began serving as OmniAmerican’s highest executive officer in June, 2007. As President and Chief Executive Officer of OmniAmerican Bank, Carter is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination and implementation of all bank operations and for working with OmniAmerican’s board of directors to establish the overall direction and culture of the organization, including developing philosophies for customers and employees. Immediately before joining OmniAmerican Bank, Carter served as President and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County. Carter began accumulating his 25 years of banking experience in 1977 with Interfirst Bank-Houston where he managed the Professional Development Program and the Metropolitan Group/Middle Market Lending Division. In 1985 he joined NBC Bank-Houston and served as President and CEO of NBC Bank-Spring Branch. In 1988, Carter joined Texas Commerce Bank (TCB) and served as the President and manager of the Commercial/Healthcare Banking Division of Texas Commerce Medical Bank. He then became the area manager of private banking for West Houston and was then named President of TCB-Fort Worth in 1992. Carter became chairman of Chase Bank-Fort Worth (formerly TCB) in 1998. He left Chase Bank in 2001 following the merger of Chase Bank with JPMorgan. In addition to an outstanding banking career, Carter has served as the President and CEO of the Harris Methodist Health Foundation where he worked to provide philanthropic support for capital projects and programs related to health care. His position with United Way provided Carter the opportunity to serve the Tarrant County community. Other community service includes serving on the board of the Van Cliburn Foundation, the TCU Business School International Board of Visitors and Mayfest, Inc. Carter also serves on the boards of The Fort Worth Club, Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Homelessness, Fort Worth Promotion and Development Fund and the Safe City Commission. Carter also has served on the board of Texas Wesleyan University, the Harris Methodist Health System, Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, Gladney Center for Adoption, the William Mann Jr., Community Development Corporation, Downtown Fort Worth Inc., the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Country Day School, Texas New Mexico Power Co., InfoSphere, Inc., JaGee Holdings and Worthington National Bank. Carter has further solidified his place in the community through positions as chairman of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital, the National Conference for Community and Justice and the Fort Worth American Heart Association. Carter has proven his willingness to serve his community not only through business, but also through politics. He was elected Bellaire City Councilman in 1986 and served as Mayor of the City of Bellaire from 1988 to 1992. He also served as Chairman of the Bellaire Economic Development Council from 1991 to 1992. Graduating from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 1977, Carter attended UT on a four year athletic scholarship where his swimming won him recognition as an All Southwest Conference athlete.
