Amalie M Kass

Author of Midwifery and Medicine in Boston: Walter Channing M.D 1786-1876, is a Lecturer on the History of Medicine in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. With her late husband, Dr. Edward H. Kass, she coauthored Perfecting the World: The Life and Times of Thomas Hodgkin, M.D. (1988). She has also written many journal articles and book chapters, primarily in the field of medical history. For several years, she was associate editor of the Journal of the History of Medicine and Allied Sciences and presently serves on the Advisory Editorial Board of the Bulletin of the History of Medicine. She has been President of the Massachusetts Historical Society since 2002.
