Christian Schlect

After more than 36 years serving the tree fruit industry, Northwest Horticultural Council president Chris Schlect retired at the end of March 2017. Schlect, a graduate of Washington State University and the Gonzaga School of Law, started with the Yakima-based council in 1980. Growing up on a local orchard, Schlect had roots in apple country. He was approached about joining the council in 1980 while Schlect was a young deputy prosecuting attorney in Yakima County.
