The Firm of Barnett, Bugg & Lee was established in 1901 by J.B. Barnett (1872-1952). Later partners to join the firm were L.J. Bugg (1870-1938) and A.C. Lee (1880-1962). Alice F. Lee (Birmingham School of Law) joined her father in the firm in 1944. John B. Barnett, III, (Cumberland School of Law, 1983) grandson of J.B. Barnett, joined the firm in 1983. In 2006 the firm name was changed to Barnett, Bugg, Lee & Carter, LLC with the addition of Tonja B. Carter (University of Alabama School of Law, 2006). Today, both Alice F. Lee and John B. Barnett, III are Of Counsel to the firm.
