Urban C Lehner

Urban is vice president, editorial of Telvent DTN, an Omaha-based provider of business information for the agricultural, energy and other weather-sensitive markets. He previously spent seven years as DTN's editor-in-chief, during which he reshaped the company's editorial strategy. Before joining DTN in 2003, Urban spent 33 years at The Wall Street Journal, including 20 years in Europe and Asia, with his last two positions being vice president, business development, based in New York, and publisher and executive editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal, based in Hong Kong. His journalistic awards include an Overseas Press Club citation for excellence in 1989 for a series of articles on U.S.-Japan relations and being named 2009 Writer of the Year by the American Agricultural Editors Association. Urban is currently president of the Nebraska Ornithologists' Union and spent several years on the board of the Audubon Society of Omaha. Since joining DTN he has developed a special interest in the impact of agriculture on the environment. Urban has served as a director on the boards of CNBC Asia in Singapore and Nation Multimedia Group in Bangkok, Thailand and was the 2009-2010 president of the North American Agricultural Journalists group. He has a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan, a law degree from Georgetown University and is an inactive member of the District of Columbia bar.
