One year later purchased Kerr-McGee's Gulf assets for $1.3 billion; doubled company's size. Considering coastal and overseas expansion. Rescued Hurricane Katrina victims and their families with chartered 757 jet. Owns Grand American Road Racing Association team, Krohn Racing.
