About the Foundation Our foundation was established in 1992 as an avenue for us to provide support for the initiatives that are closest to our hearts; namely youth, family, and community in the greater Grand Rapids area. We have been abundantly blessed, and the foundation serves as an outpouring of those blessings and a response to our calling to serve others. Guided by our Christian faith, we strive to use the gifts we have been given to provide healing and support to those with the greatest need, and to help others obtain the hope, confidence, and tools to live a productive and rewarding life. About Doug and Maria DeVos Doug and Maria DeVos, natives of Grand Rapids, Michigan, share a rich history of supporting the community through business and philanthropic endeavors. Following the example of servant-leadership established by Jesus Christ, Doug and Maria joyfully seek to offer real opportunities – to learn, grow, and serve – to children, families, and the community. Strong believers in the God-given potential of every person and the power of high expectations, Doug and Maria seek to create an environment in which optimistic attitudes and confident actions cultivate success. A graduate of Purdue University’s School of Management, Doug currently serves as the President of Amway. Passionate about initiating positive change and innovation, he chairs the Executive Committee for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. Doug is also on the boards of several business and civic organizations, including Business Leaders for Michigan, the Gerald R. Ford Foundation, Keystone Community Church, and the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations. Maria’s work follows her heart, which is led towards the health, wellness, and education of children and their families. She is on the boards of the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation and the Spectrum Health Foundation, and she serves as a friend and advisor to Safe Haven Ministries and the West Michigan Youth Ballet. Maria is a graduate of Grand Valley State University. Together, Doug and Maria seek to serve in ways that make a significant difference in the local community and beyond.
