The Campaign Activity and Management Program (CAMP) Fellowship is a competitive opportunity and paid program focused on training Dallas leaders committed to a better future for Dallas students; equipping participants with the necessary skills to support elected officials and candidates seeking office. Fellows will gain exposure to leaders of non-profits, for-profit firms, current officials, media, candidates, and community organizers with decades of experience in Dallas politics and education related activities. This one-of-a-kind program offers a unique experience for fellows to collaborate with a close-knit cohort of driven, community focused people and a chance to directly apply learned skills. Fellows will collaboratively learn the nuts and bolts of local political campaigns and have the opportunity to walk away with a diverse set of knowledge and competencies that are transferable to a wide range of professional opportunities. In its inaugural year, the CAMP Fellows dedicated over 3000 hours to building relationships with community members and motivating them to vote for the endorsed candidate. The direct result of this was a 35% increase in voter turnout compared to the previous years, more than 2700 additional votes, and over 900 first time voters for the endorsed candidate.
