Causes: Children & Youth, Education, Elementary & Secondary Schools, Literacy, Youth Centers & Clubs Mission: RISE is a Cincinnati-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide national, high quality, cost-efficient training opportunities for adults who work with infants, children and youth. RISE was formed in 1994 to find large-scale answers for pressing educational needs. Its founders include its first president, Chad P. Wick, now President and CEO of the KnowledgeWorks Foundation; Neal Mayerson, Ph.D., president of the Manuel D. and Rhoda Mayerson Foundation; and Debra S. Pinger, RISE's current president and CEO. RISE began delivering instruction in January 1997. In four years, RISE has provided more than 17,000 parents, childcare providers, teachers and volunteers with the tools they need to prepare children in their care for academic success. Growing rapidly, RISE projects providing instruction to 20,000 adults in the coming year alone. In five years, RISE has set the standard of effective distance learning and is well recognized as the "mark of distinction" in the field.
