Sydney Institute

The Sydney Institute is a privately funded not-for-profit current affairs forum encouraging debate and discussion on a wide range of issues. The Institute conducts about 60 policy forums a year (held usually between 6 pm and 7 pm) on a wide range of issues – including economics, politics, international affairs, literature, history, film, social policy, The institute was established by founder and current ED, Gerard Henderson in 1989. The institute took over the resources of the Sydney Institute of Public Affairs which ceased activity in the late 1980s. It claims to receive support from the Australian business community but does not actually disclose its sources of funding.
