Health promotion strives to strengthen both the health resources and skills of people and to create the socio-political conditions for this. The focus lies on the question of how health can be instilled, restored, maintained, and increased. The integrative health promotion program conveys to the student the current state of scientific knowledge and established practical elements of health promotion. Students learn about methods of applied health promotion in the areas of prevention, cure, and rehabilitation in different living environments (e.g. work place, community, university) as well as in leisure time and tourism. PRACTICAL TRAINING Projects Students are integrated into practical projects from the beginning. Specific projects with regional and trans-regional partners from business and social institutions challenge the students to present their work results confidently and establish contacts in the profession. Required internship semester The required internship usually takes place in the fifth semester of the program. It spans a contiguous period of 26 weeks. In addition, students will visit educational events to accompany their practical training. STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM The first to fourth semesters instill the theoretical foundations of the program. Students already work in practice-oriented projects from the start of the program where they can immediately apply their theoretical knowledge. The fifth semester is a systematically accompanied required internship. The sixth and seventh semester serve for developing in-depth knowledge. Students have the opportunity to select two focus areas from the following directions: Work and health Tourism, leisure time, and health Curative therapy, rehabilitation, and health The Bachelor thesis concludes the program. The program integrates state of the art knowledge and established elements of health promotion. This includes for instance: (Social) determinants of health Components of health promotion: nutrition, movement, relaxation Quality management in health promotion Students receive an intensive, scientifically founded education. The knowledge conveyed includes the areas of health sciences and epidemiology, occupational medicine and operational health management, wellness, tourism and leisure time, law, research, and business administration, as well as English. Healthy living and work are increasingly important. Possible professional fields for graduates of Integrative Health Promotion are found in business health promotion, health tourism, health care, and municipal health promotion. Graduates of this program know the most important strategies of health promotion and are able to create and establish health promotion programs with different population or target groups. In addition, they are able to view these programs in the context of the living environments of the target group. Master's degree After completing their degree, good graduates have the possibility of continuing their studies with a suitable Master's program. Coburg University offers the Master’s program "Health Promotion M.Sc." for this purpose. It continues directly after the Bachelor’s degree.
