Eight residents of North Minneapolis suing the city because it doesn’t have enough cops
The plaintiffs allege that the Minneapolis charter requires that the city employ at least 753 officers, and that this requirement is not being met. The suit was filed amid calls to defund and/or eliminate the police department after the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin on May 25th, 2020.
