The name Diagalon comes from "diagonal" which is the swath of provinces of states and provinces included in the Diagalon nation. It is the geographic area along a diagonal line from Alaska to Florida. Founder Jeremy Mackenzie has said it is a joke but Diagalon patches have been found on body armour that was seized at the Coutts border crossing blockade - along with guns and other weapons. Diagalon is what, reportedly, groomed at least one of the 4 people charged with conspiracy to commit murder at Coutts into extremist militia-style alt-right politics. According to the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, the group is "increasingly becoming a militia network." Diagolon is associated with white nationalism.
