As the co-founder and President of Tiandi Energy, Richard leads the sales and project delivery groups towards the vision of being the dominant supplier of technical human resources to the global exploration and production industry. Prior to founding Tiandi, Richard held numerous positions within IHS Inc (NYSE: IHS) including Vice President of Innovation and New Ventures. Richard also spend six years as Senior Director of Research with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), where he specialized in strategic issues concerning oil and gas technology and industry costs. During this time Mr. Ward authored several influential papers including a study on the aging and transition of oil and gas expertise titled "GreY2K: The Big Crew Change and Strategic Options". Additionally, Mr Ward invented the Upstream Capital Cost Index (UCCI) an industry standard measure of project cost inflation. Previous to CERA, Mr Ward has held positions with Maurer Engineering, Halliburton, Landmark Graphics, Munro Garrett and Schlumberger. Mr. Ward is a graduate of Rice University and is an Adjunct Professor of Business at the Jones School of Management, Rice University.
