John W Suthers

John Suthers is Colorado’s elected attorney general, a position he has held since January 2005. Since becoming a lawyer more than three decades ago, Suthers has served in a variety of positions in the public sector, including a presidentially appointed U.S. Attorney from 2001 to 2005 when Gov. Bill Owens appointed him to succeed Ken Salazar as attorney general. He also has served as the elected district attorney for the Fourth Judicial District, which includes Colorado Springs, from 1988 to 1997. Suthers served as the head of the Colorado Department of Corrections from 1999 to 2001. Suthers is a 1974 graduate of Notre Dame and a 1977 graduate of the University of Colorado Law School.
