Hohn's activist European hedge fund, the Children's Investment Fund, returned 8.3% in 2014 net of fees. The son of a Jamaican car mechanic, Hohn attended Southamption University in the U.K. and got his MBA at Harvard, where he met wife, American Jamie Cooper. The couple (while married, each used the surname Cooper-Hohn) started Children's Investment Fund Foundation and Children's Investment Fund in 2003. Hohn filed for divorce and split the charity from the hedge fund. Before the split, Hohn steered more than $2 billion to the charity. In 2014, a London court awarded Jamie Cooper-Hohn about $530 million of the marital estate.
