Steven A Shaw

Steven Shaw is senior of counsel in the firm’s Washington, DC office and a member of the Government Contracts Practice Group. He is also active in litigation matters, specializing in civil fraud and white collar criminal litigation. Most recently, Mr. Shaw was Deputy General Counsel (Contractor Responsibility), Department of the Air Force. Here he served as the Air Force debarment and suspension official and managed the Air Force's Coordination of Fraud Remedies Program. REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS Successfully defended a major defense contractor in a federal grand jury investigation into mislabeling electrical tubing in sales to the military. Obtained the dismissal of a federal grand jury indictment against an aircraft parts manufacturer, following a hearing establishing prosecutorial misconduct. Successfully prosecuted before a jury the first federal judge in US history convicted of crimes committed while on the bench, and subsequent Ninth Circuit appeal. Successfully defended a NASA contractor in a grand jury investigation into allegations that it had submitted false invoices. Managed an internal investigation for a major aerospace defense contractor regarding its alleged failure to comply with Hart-Scott-Rodino requirements with the FTC. Defended a mining company against a federal antitrust investigation into allegations that it had conspired with a competitor to limit production. Represented the CEO of a technology company in federal class action securities fraud litigation, resulting in the dismissal of the complaint.
