Wardell was appointed to her current position in 2016, and has been a member of Adtalem's board of directors since 2008. She is the only African-American female CEO in the Fortune 1000, according to Adtalem. Previously, she was EVP and COO for The RLJ Companies, a diversified holding company in the financial services, asset management, real estate, professional sports, and gaming industries.
