Douglas Abts

Douglas Abts joined Bridgepoint Education, a provider of innovative solutions that advance learning, in August, 2010. As Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development, he is responsible for coordinating the development of Bridgepoint Education’s direction and program growth at both the strategic and tactical levels to drive cutting-edge service design and delivery. He collaborates with the company’s executive and senior management teams, as well as key internal and external personnel, to establish strategic direction, recommend strategy changes, and manage strategic partnerships. Prior to joining the Bridgepoint team, Mr. Abts spent seven years at Science Applications International Corporation in San Diego, most recently serving as the Corporate Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions. He previously held the titles of Vice President/Director of Strategic Development and Business Development Manager. Earlier in his career, Mr. Abts served his country as a member of the United States Navy for six years. He was a SEAL Team Operations Officer and was ranked as the top Lieutenant on the 250-person SEAL Team. Bridgepoint Education is dedicated to social responsibility and enriching lives in the communities it serves. In maintaining that sentiment, Mr. Abts serves as a board member on the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Abts holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Communication from Stanford University.
