Haralabos Voulgaris went to the University of Manitoba, where he graduated with a degree in philosophy. He has been making a living for himself as a professional sports bettor, particularly in NBA basketball, since his late teenage years. He then shifted his focus to playing poker, with cash games as his specialty. It was in 2003 that Haralabos Voulgaris set his sights on becoming a winning tournament player and, after seeing the first season of a World Poker Tour broadcast, decided to give it a shot. He began his tournament run by cashing in the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic two years in a row in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em event. Haralabos Voulgaris started 2007 by bagging $45,560 at the Crown Aussie Millions Championship in the No-Limit Hold’em Championship. He then accumulated $87,994 by cashing in the World Poker Tour World Championship, the Mirage Poker Showdown, the Bellagio Cup lll, as well as the Gulf Coast Poker Championship.
