Mr. Fabick grew up in St. Louis, where his father owned a tractor dealership. The Fabick Co. grew into a Caterpillar dealership. Mr. Fabick and his two older brothers eventually took over the company, which he became president of and headed for 38 years. In 1982, Caterpillar awarded Mr. Fabick the dealer territory for Wisconsin and upper Michigan. He moved to Milwaukee to start his new company, Fabco Equipment Inc. Mr. Fabick was the youngest of seven children. His father started the family business on South Grand Avenue in 1917. Mr. Fabick graduated from Campion Preparatory High School in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and St. Louis University. He and his late wife, Gloria, had eight children. Among the survivors are three daughters, Jolene C. Barlin of Milwaukee, Janine G. Mroz of St. Louis County, and Jeanne E. Litzsinger of Oakville; five sons, Joseph G. "Jay" Fabick Jr. of Madison, Wis., Jeffery E. Fabick of Vero Beach, Fla., James A. Fabick of Clayton, Jack F. Fabick of Milwaukee and Jere C. Fabick of Milwaukee; 18 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
