Kit Bond was a politican and attorney. He was Senator from Missouri from 1987 to 2010, and twice Governor of Missouri (1973-1977 and 1981-1985) Born in St. Louis, MO., March 6, 1939; graduated, Princeton University 1960; graduated, University of Virginia Law School 1963; practiced law in Washington, D.C., and returned to Missouri in 1967; assistant attorney general of Missouri 1969; State auditor 1970; Governor of Missouri 1973-1977, 1980-1985; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1986; reelected in 1992, 1998 and 2004, and served from January 3, 1987, to January 3, 2011; chair, Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (One Hundred Fourth through One Hundred Sixth Congresses, One Hundred Seventh Congress [January 20, 2001-June 6, 2001]); was not a candidate for reelection to the Senate in 2010. Bond died on Tuesday May 13 2025 in St. Louis. He was 86. He and his wife, Carolyn, divorced in 1994. His survivors include his son from that marriage, Sam; his second wife, Linda (Pell) Bond, a Republican fund-raiser; and two grandchildren.
