Brig. Gen. Catherine A. Chilton is the mobilization assistant to the Military Deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. She supports oversight of the research and development, test, production, and modernization of Air Force programs worth more than $40 billion annually. General Chilton entered the Air Force in 1981 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. She first served as a test director in the 4950th Test Wing, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Following completion of the flight test engineering course in 1984, she held several positions testing and evaluating the flutter characteristics of the F-16 and flying qualities of the A-10 aircraft. She also tested and evaluated air-to-ground and air-to-air munitions on a variety of aircraft. In 1989, the general entered the Air Force Reserve individual mobilization augmentee program. She has held various positions at the San Antonio Air Logistics Center, Texas; Schriever AFB, Colo., Hanscom AFB, Mass, and Headquarters U.S. Air Force. She has also served at the Missile Defense Agency in Washington, D.C., and Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson AFB. Prior to her current assignment, she was the mobilization assistant to the Superintendent, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
