Ben Hammer

Ben Hammer is a Vice President at The Glover Park Group in the Public Affairs division. He specializes in technology policy, antitrust, M&A, crisis response, and coalition management. Hammer has advisedAMD, Bloomberg LP, DIRECTV, Expedia, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Scripps Networks, the Tennis Channel, TripAdvisor, and the Washington DC Police Foundation. Ben is a spokesman and campaign manager for FairSearch.org, a coalition of 17 members representing leading online technology and specialized search companies in the U.S., Europe, South America and Asia. On behalf of clients, he develops strategic communications plans, speaks on-the-record with press, helps launch and manage corporate policy blogs, and advises clients on public outreach for congressional hearings, executive agency filings, and complex regulatory reviews. He has helped clients secure editorial board meetings and op-eds with the Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Jose Mercury News, Austin American-Statesman, Philadelphia Inquirer, Cleveland Plain Dealer, BGov, and Huffington Post, and booked client appearances on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg TV, NPR, and local broadcast affiliates in more than a dozen states. Ben joined The Glover Park Group after nine years as an award-winning journalist. Before joining GPG, Ben was a reporter with the Washington Business Journal in D.C., covering technology and venture capital. In 2006, the chairman of American City Business Journals selected Ben for the Eagle Award, the company’s highest award for editorial excellence. Previously, Ben covered technology and finance for Washington Techway, and media for the Industry Standard magazine in New York. He began his career in Booz Allen Hamilton’s Media & Entertainment Strategy practice in New York. Ben has also covered policy for Black Issues in Higher Ed magazine; consulted to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on a team that created a news service; contributes to an annual National Science Foundation report to Congress on R&D; and has edited World Bank papers on Eastern Europe market reforms. Ben graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts with honors in political science, and a concentration on the Middle East.
