Jeffrey Zimpleman

Jeffrey Zimpleman, the son of Principal Financial Group CEO Larry Zimpleman, died Thursday (June 5, 2014) while traveling in Germany. Jeffrey Zimpleman lived in Richmond, Va., and was born in Des Moines. He grew up in Clive and graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1996. Zimpleman earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Dartmouth College in 2000, a master’s degree in chemistry from Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif., in 2004, and a master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University in 2006. He worked as a business manager for Capital One Financial Corp., according to his profile on LinkedIn. He also had worked for JMZ Consulting and Ansell, an Australian manufacturer.
