Christopher J. Alden has started and run several successful media, technology, & Internet companies. He co-founded Red Herring, “the bible of Silicon Valley,” out of his home in the early 1990s and was the COO or CEO for most of its tenure, building it to a $100M revenue business with nearly 400 employees. He then became an EIR at TPG where he started Rojo, an early Web 2.0 RSS company that pioneered new concepts in social media consumption & sharing. He sold Rojo to Six Apart in 2006 where he ran the Professional Division and was promoted to CEO in 2007; overseeing the 200-employee company until its sale to SAY Media in late 2010. He has since been investing in, advising, and incubating startups. Mr. Alden also has a background in real estate development and hotel management, having worked for Western Land Corporation and Woodside Hotels & Resorts. Mr. Alden was awarded the Business Leadership Award from the Anderson School of Business at UCLA in 2000 and graduated with a degree in history from Dartmouth College in 1992.
