Catherine M. Valerio Barrad is a partner in the Complex Commercial Litigation, Products Liability, Privacy, Data Security and Information Law, and Supreme Court and Appellate practice groups, in the Los Angeles office of Sidley Austin LLP. Ms. Valerio Barrad has served as law clerk to the Honorable Douglas H. Ginsburg, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Ms. Valerio Barrad is Firmwide Chair of the Firm’s Diversity Committee. Ms. Valerio Barrad’s general litigation practice focuses on complex civil litigation. She has tried over a half-dozen cases to verdict, has briefed more than a dozen cases and petitions for certiorari in the United States Supreme Court, and currently serves as Lead Counsel in multiple state and federal coordinated proceedings. Ms. Valerio Barrad has been the recipient of the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services. She serves on various entities charged with oversight of the California court system, including committees relating to trial and appellate judicial appointments. Ms. Valerio Barrad received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Business, and her undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Physics, and Economics from UCSD (Revelle College).
