Matthew McCloskey

Democratic Party Treasurer, Construction Magnate

Was the Democratic Party treasurer and fund raiser during the Kennedy era. Owner of McCloskey & Company Construction, builder of the Rayburn Congressional building in Washington D.C. and the Boston Veteran's Hospital, both of which were investigated for fraud. The FBI also investigated the construction of the D.C. stadium, which was budgeted at $6 million, but ended up costing $20 million McCloskey was appointed Ambassador to Ireland by John F. Kennedy, but had to resign.
