Elizabeth Lerner began her career with the City of Chicago with the Department of Police, working in the Bureau of Administrative Services, Records Division. Ms. Lerner was assigned to the Identification Section as a Criminal History Analyst. In 1995 Ms. Lerner was hired as an Investigator in IPRA’s predecessor agency, the Office of Professional Standards, and spent 17 years as an Investigator and, later, a Supervising Investigator at OPS and IPRA. Ms. Lerner’s lengthiest assignment was as both an Investigator and, later, the Supervising Investigator of the Major Case Squad, which was assigned the most complex investigations in the office, including all officer-involved shootings. In March 2012, Ms. Lerner was promoted to Deputy Chief Administrator-Chief Investigator. Prior to her career with the City of Chicago, Ms. Lerner worked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for approximately 6 years as a supervisor of the LEADS/NCIC Unit. Ms. Lerner obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Loyola University of Chicago and a Master of Science in Criminal/Social Justice from Lewis University, Romeoville, Illinois.
