John is a senior partner with Oliver Wyman, the international management consulting arm of Marsh & McLennan Companies. Since joining the firm in 2004, he has focused on helping C-suite executives think through the implications of their strategies in terms of organizational and operational capabilities with a focus on top information-based institutions. John served on Oliver Wyman’s Management Committee from 2004 to 2010 as global head of the Strategic Technology and Operations Management practice and before that, head of North America, where he was responsible for growing a new practice area from the ground up. Before joining Oliver Wyman, John was a partner with Booz Allen Hamilton (now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he led the Information Systems Group in Europe, a regional practice helping senior management to achieve better results from information technology. He also served on Booz Allen's European and U.K. management boards. John received a BA, with distinction in all subjects, from Cornell University in government and economics and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in public/nonprofit management, finance, and international business. In 2003/04, John took a sabbatical to obtain a mid-career master’s in international public policy, with honors, from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. John serves on the advisory board of Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences and on the Cornell Alumni Trustee Nominating Committee as outgoing chairman. John also serves on the board of trustees of Higher Achievement, the Washington, D.C.,-based academic enrichment program aimed at middle school students from the city’s most disadvantaged wards; he recently led their national strategy renewal. John previously held appointments with the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery, where he served as vice chairman of the board and chairman of the Strategy and Finance Committee, completing the museum’s new strategy in 2010. John lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Carol; his son, Oscar Boochever ’15; and two Labrador retrievers. Two grown daughters, Ali Boochever ’11 and Audrey Boochever ’09, are attending the University of Vermont and teaching high school math with Teach for America in Memphis, respectively.
