John A. Cashman is a Partner and the Vice President for Law Firm Recruiting and is located in Major, Lindsey & Africa's Chicago office. During his career as a legal search consultant at MLA, John's practice focused on representing individual partners in the lateral marketplace, practice group acquisitions, and law firm mergers. His clients include many of the country's best national and international law firms, large public and private companies and numerous regional and local law firms in the Midwest and elsewhere. John has placed numerous partners and groups with major national and international firms, represented a boutique law firm in its merger with a major national law firm, completed retained partner searches for several national law firms, and helped Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI) and GTCR Golder Rauner hire their most recent General Counsels. John’s prior experience as an M&A partner at a major international law firm is a tremendous asset to both clients and candidates. John brings to his work as a legal search consultant a sophisticated understanding of the issues faced by law firms and partners in building, evaluating and moving practices. Prior to joining MLA, John was a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn. John received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1994, where he graduated with Honors and was a John M. Olin Scholar in law and economics. He received a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Washington in 1987. Before attending law school, John was a Vice President at City National Bank in Beverly Hills, California.
