Frain, a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, knew from the start that he wanted to stay in New Hampshire after graduating from St. Anselm College with a business degree. Frain became the first local employee to assume the role of president and chief operating officer of PSNH under Northeast Utilities. Frain always retained his affection for St. Anselm, served as a trustee for many years, and never missed an alumni reunion, according to Jim Flanagan, senior vice president for college advancement. After retiring he left Manchester to live in Brewster on Cape Cod. Family members who will miss him dearly include his wife of 30 years, Myra; his son Bill Frain III and his wife Lori (O'Brien) of Clifton Park, N.Y., and their children Andrew, John and Katherine; and his daughter Tammy Bond and her husband Scott of Fremont, N.H., and their children Julie and Jake. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Frain) Curtin of Sanibel Island, Fla., and North Andover, Mass., and Patricia (Frain) McLynch of Gardner, Mass., and his brother Robert J. Frain of Manchester, along with their spouses, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill is predeceased by his parents Bill and Doris, his stepmother Margaret (O'Loughlin) Frain and his brother Richard Frain.
