Mr. Thompson provides strategic and tactical guidance to help clients navigate the complex political and business environments in which we work. With a broad network of senior contacts across the government, Mr. Thompson is known for his ability to quickly and effectively link clients with relevant legislative, political, executive, and corporate branch officials to accomplish clients' business objectives. As Chairman of Thompson Advisory Group, Mr. Thompson advises top information technology, health care, infrastructure, energy, payment system, and defense companies, and associations on business, legislative, privacy, and database management matters. Prior to starting Thompson Advisory Group, Mr. Thompson served as Chairman of Jefferson Consulting Group (JCG). JCG is a full service, Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm representing companies and government organizations around the world. Previously, Mr. Thompson founded and ran a lobbying firm in Washington. During his fourteen years as President and Chairman of Thompson & Company, he managed a successful legislative and political consulting practice. He represented health care, trade, international, banking, and tax interests. In addition to his legislative expertise, he developed strong relationships with officials in the White House, as well as the Departments of State, Commerce, Treasury, Defense, and the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Prior to Thompson & Company, Mr. Thompson served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs in the White House under President Reagan, a position he held until 1983. In addition to his work in Washington, Mr. Thompson has participated in various business investments ranging from real estate to manufacturing to finance and has served on numerous philanthropic and corporate boards. Mr. Thompson originally came to Washington in December 1980 after the November Reagan-Bush victory. He traveled with Candidate George Bush during the primary and then became Vice President George Bush's first Executive Assistant for Congressional Relations.
