Valerie Casey is Chief Product Officer of the Samsung Global Innovation Center and was co-founding General Manager of the Samsung Accelerator. In these positions, Valerie has spearheaded open innovation at Samsung and throughout the tech community. In addition, she serves as founding Executive Director of the Designers Accord, the world largest multi-disciplinary coalition of designers, business leaders, and educators working together to create a positive environmental and social impact. Before joining the Samsung team, Valerie was founding CEO of Necessary Projects, an innovation consultancy working with organizations and governments to identify and respond to sustainability and healthcare needs. Prior to this, she was the Head of Digital Experiences at IDEO where she led the international design consulting firm’s digital experience practice. She came to IDEO from frog design, a global design and innovation firm where she served as the Executive Creative Director, and before that from Pentagram where she led interaction design. She serves on the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Design Council, and has been a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Design & Innovation, the Sanofi Customer Innovation Board, and the Sustainable Brands Advisory Board. Valerie has been recognized as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and was named one of the “World’s Most Influential Designers” by BusinessWeek, a “Hero of the Environment” by TIME Magazine, a “Guru You Should Know” by Fortune, a Master of Design by Fast Company, and to EuroNova’s “Europe’s 40 Under 40” list. She received her BA in English Literature and Psychology from Swarthmore College and holds an M.E.D. in Cultural Theory and Design from Yale.
