Patrick T Henry

Patrick T. Henry is a Partner in Abell, Henry & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in visionary, executive level consulting on issues related to defense and the national security sector. Mr. Henry graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1972, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. His Marine Corps career spanned over 20 years. He held command and staff positions in Marine Corps tank units, commanded an Army tank training company at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and served on the staff of two Secretaries of Defense. In 1975, Mr. Henry was selected as an Olmsted Scholar and, after graduating from the Defense Language Institute, completed two years of study in International Relations at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, France. Additionally, Mr. Henry has been a Visiting Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In 1992, Mr. Henry retired from the Marine Corps and became the Chief of Staff of the American Red Cross, a position he held until joining the professional staff of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services in 1993. In this position, he was charged with responsibilities for Department of Defense manpower, personnel and health affairs. Mr. Henry served on the Armed Services Committee staff until he was sworn in as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs on August 6, 1998. Mr. Henry was nominated by President Clinton to be the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs on July 7, 1998, confirmed by the United States Senate on July 30, 1998, and appointed as Assistant Secretary on August 6, 1998. His principal responsibility was the overall supervision of the functions of the Department of the Army relating to manpower, personnel, and health affairs for the active, reserve and civilian components of the Army. Mr. Henry served in that capacity until January 20, 2001.
