Daniel Addison

Daniel Addison represents clients on a diverse range of public policy matters involving legislative strategy, appropriations, and foreign government concerns before the U.S. Congress and Executive branch departments, multi-lateral agencies, and sovereign governments.  He also counsels clients on issues involving environmental compliance and risk management. Mr. Addison has a wealth of knowledge in matters involving injury to natural resources and has significant experience handling multi-media targeting initiatives, management aspects of environmental compliance, rulemaking, and litigation.  Mr. Addison regularly assists clients with crisis management issues and facilitates alternative dispute resolution and mediation. His foreign government representation experience includes a particular focus on developing nations. Mr. Addison served in senior level positions in two presidential administrations and worked as a senior staff member in the offices of then-Senator Pete Wilson (R-CA), who later became Governor of California.  In 1994, he was cited by Governor Wilson as one of the nation’s leading experts on natural resources and appointed to spearhead California’s recycling efforts.  Previously, he prosecuted Natural Resource Damage (NRD) claims and was a principal architect of the Exxon-Valdez settlement in his position as special counsel for Natural Resources, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  He also acted as associate administrator for Industry and Congressional Affairs for the U.S. General Services Administration, heading the Agency’s strategic business initiatives and legislative strategy. In the private sector, Mr. Addison served as vice president for Government and International Affairs at Pacific Research and Strategies, Inc., a leading political consulting firm. He began his career in Washington on the Republican National Committee, where he handled the recruitment of non-traditional voter groups, including African Americans.
