Marc L Fleischaker

Marc Fleischaker is chairman of Arent Fox. In addition, he maintains an active legal practice in a number of areas, including trade association representation, environmental law, antitrust law, litigation, and civil rights law. Marc joined Arent Fox in 1971. He became a partner in 1978, has been a member of the firm’s Executive Committee since 1983, and became Chairman in 1997. Marc chairs the Nonprofit Initiative at Arent Fox, which has one of the largest practices in the country representing trade associations, museums, foundations and other nonprofit organizations. Marc serves as counsel to ten national trade associations and foundations in the fields of automotive parts, grain, forest products, higher education and credit counseling. Marc’s environmental practice includes work under all federal and numerous state environmental statutes. Marc has been lead counsel in major environmental matters and litigation throughout the country, as well as appellate challenges to federal agencies’ regulations. Marc also has extensive antitrust counseling and litigation experience. He has represented numerous clients in matters related to the Sherman Act, the Robinson-Patman Act, and intellectual property. Marc has spent his entire career since law school with Arent Fox. A contributing factor to his tenure has been the firm’s approval, indeed encouragement, of participation in substantial legal-related activities. Thus, Marc has chaired the Appleseed Foundation, the National Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. He has also participated in many other non-profit activities, including serving on the board of directors for groups such as the Council for Court Excellence. Marc also holds membership in the Federal City Council, the Economic Club of Washington, and the American Society of Association Executives. Marc has published approximately 30 articles in legal and other periodicals and has spoken extensively before bar and employer groups. He is listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the East. In his spare time, Marc plays golf and is a member of The Members Club at Four Streams. He is a long-time season ticket holder to the Washington Wizards, as well as an avid daily runner, having completed six marathons. Marc and his wife, Phyllis, spend as much time as possible at their second home on the Maryland Eastern Shore.
