Chemical engineer who invented a canning process for condensed soup; founded Campbell's Soup

Campbell Soup founder John T. Dorrance, chemist who invented process for making condensed canned soup, bought uncle's Campbell Soup company in 1914. Son John Jr. inherited half the fortune, rest split among three daughters. John Jr. died 1989, family fight ensued over whether to sell family shares. John's children won, family estimated to own just over 50% . Campbell still controls some 80% of U.S. soup market.
