Tim Lawless joined the Arizona Chapter of NAIOP as its President on November 2, 2005. The Arizona Chapter of NAIOP is the statewide voice of the Arizona commercial real estate community at the Legislature and before regulatory agencies. NAIOP's membership is over 600 strong and includes developers, brokers, and commercial real estate service professionals. Lawless has extensive experience in business, politics and government. More recently, Lawless served approximately five years in state government where he was an Assistant Deputy Director at the Arizona Department of Commerce in the Napolitano Administration and as the Policy Advisor for Economic Development and Taxation for Governor Jane Dee Hull. Previous to his public service, Lawless was the President and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was the Director of Governmental Affairs for Aurora Health Care, the largest health care provider and largest private sector employer in the state of Wisconsin. Earlier in his career, Lawless taught political science courses at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater; was a Division Administrator in the Wisconsin Department of Development in the Tommy G. Thompson Administration; and was Director of Governmental Affairs for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. He has a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's of arts degree in public policy and administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He and his wife Denise reside in Phoenix and have two children.
