Lisa K Rushton

Lisa Rushton represents a variety of large and small businesses within the commercial, real estate and industrial communities on matters relating to compliance with federal, state and local environmental and health and safety laws and regulations. Her practice focuses primarily on (1) environmental due diligence associated with corporate business, real estate transactions and public offerings and advising clients on environmental problems attendant to those transactions; (2) drafting, reviewing and negotiating contractual agreements covering environmental aspects of business and real estate transactions; (3) counseling clients on environmental compliance, including implementation of environmental management systems; and (4) preparing and reviewing operating permit applications. Ms. Rushton has substantial experience in matters relating to air and water pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management and cleanup, and toxic substance control laws. Ms. Rushton also represents industry interests in the development of new environmental, health and safety legislation and regulations at the federal, state and local level. Ms. Rushton routinely evaluates liabilities and counsels clients with a wide variety of operations, including waste management operations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, airport management, telecommunications, and energy generation and sale. Ms. Rushton has lectured and provided in-house training sessions on the Toxic Substance Control Act, air toxics regulations, Florida’s Administrative Procedure Act and its legislative processes, and assisted in the development of standards for an air emissions trading program for the State of Florida. Ms. Rushton is a graduate from Bucknell University with a B.A. in Biology, and Tulane Law School with a specialization in Environmental Law.
