Catherine Liggins Hughes

Ms. Catherine L. Hughes, also known as Cathy founded Urban One, Inc. in 1980 and has been its Company Secretary since 1980. Ms. Hughes served as the Chief Executive Officer of Radio One, Inc. from 1980 to 1997. She has worked in various capacities for Radio One including President, General Manager, General Sales Manager and talk show host since 1980. She began her career in radio as General Sales Manager of WHUR-FM, the Howard University-owned, urban-contemporary radio station. Ms. Hughes has been the Chairperson of the Board and a Director of Urban One, Inc. since 1980. She serves as the Chairperson of Advisory Council on Underserved Communities at United States Small Business Administration (a/k/a The Small Business Administration). She has been Director of Marshall Thurgood College Fund since June 6, 2013. She serves as a Director of TV One Capital Corp. She serves as a Director of Broadcast Music, Inc. Ms. Hughes has been a Trustee at Barnes Foundation since February 4, 2015.
