John Fehrenbach

John Fehrenbach is a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office who concentrates his practice in environmental litigation, counseling, legislation, rulemakings, regulatory approvals, transactions, and audits. Before joining Winston & Strawn, he was with the firm of Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan. Mr. Fehrenbach also previously worked as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Enforcement Section, a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Solicitor, and a senior attorney with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Offices of Enforcement and Mobile Sources. Mr. Fehrenbach serves as co-chair of the Environmental Litigation Subcommittee of the American Bar Association's Committee on Business and Corporate Litigation. He also is a member of the Section on Environment, Energy and Natural Resources of the District of Columbia Bar; the Air Quality, Transportation, and Energy Committees of the New York State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section; the Environmental Law Institute; and the Public Policy Committee of the American Nuclear Society. Mr. Fehrenbach received a B.A., with a concentration in Bio-Climatology, from the University of Delaware in 1974 and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America in 1978. Mr. Fehrenbach has spoken and presented papers at conferences and seminars on a variety of safety, health, and environmental issues. For the past four years, he has co-authored the Environmental Law Chapter of the American Bar Association's Annual Review of Developments in Business and Corporate Litigation.
