After serving in the Marines, Ron decided against a career as a professional boxer and attended Harvard University on the GI Bill, obtaining a degree in government. He then earned his law degree from Georgetown University. He served as a law clerk to Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald Weber in Pittsburgh and Erie. He served as legal counsel to various high profile investigative panels including the Christopher Commission in Los Angeles in the 1990s. Ron also served as Erie County Solicitor. DiNicola joined the national law firm of Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp and is known for his representation of leading figures and entities from the worlds of business, entertainment, sports, and politics. A prominent democrat, DiNicola ran for Congress in his native Pennsylvania losing narrowly (51%-49%) and has twice served on the Democratic National Platform Committee. He worked with his long-time client Muhammad Ali in advocating for federal legislation to reform the sport and protect boxers culminating in passage of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act sponsored by U.S. Sen. John McCain. Ron and his wife, Monica, are the parents of three girls.
