Mr. Kuhl’s broad background of government exposure includes service as chief of staff to former State Senator Bill Meier; legislative assistant to former State Representative Dean Cobb; committee clerk for the Subcommittee on Land & Water (Texas House Natural Resources Committee -- chaired by former State Representative & Speaker Gib Lewis), executive assistant to former City of Austin Mayor Roy Butler; and campaign assistant to former Congressman J.J. (“Jake”) Pickle. He maintains a significant and active involvement in candidate elections and campaigns at all levels. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on the topics of Texas government and politics. Mr. Kuhl was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Texas and a J.D. from the University of Houston. He served as Symposium Editor for the Houston Law Review, and authored Evidence in Texas Administrative Adjudication published in 15 Houston Law Review 682 (1978). He is a recipient of the Vernon Law Book Award and various American Jurisprudence Awards. He has served on the Board of Governor’s for the University Club of Houston. His honorary associations and fraternities include Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Delta Phi, Greys Order, and Beta Theta Pi. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Mr. Kuhl has been actively involved with the Association of Water Board Directors, previously serving as an Advisory Board member. He also has served the Greater Houston Partnership as Chairman of the Lobby Subcommittee.
