James Corless

Before joining SACOG, James Corless founded Transportation for America, an organization focused on transportation and land-use issues. He led that organization for eight years. He also held senior positions at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in the Bay Area. In 2017, SACOG’s board of directors unanimously selected Corless to lead the planning agen- cy. SACOG board member Susan Rohan described him as “a world-class visionary and leader in the field of transportation, land use, social equity and creative place- making.” SACOG members come from local governments in six counties and the cities within those counties. Its mission includes providing transportation planning and funding.
