Priscilla Almodovar

Priscilla Almodovar was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of New York State's housing finance agencies in January 2007. The agencies known as "nyhomes" are responsible for the State's single family residential and multi-family rental lending programs, as well as mortgage insurance programs. They include the New York State Housing Finance Agency, the State of New York Mortgage Agency, the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation and their affiliated agencies and subsidiaries. Collectively, the agencies are responsible for a $7.5 billion multi-family project portfolio, a $3.3 billion single family mortgage portfolio, and a $1.5 billion mortgage insurance program. Prior to coming to "nyhomes," Ms. Almodovar served as the Deputy Policy Director for former Governor Eliot Spitzer's campaign, where she had primary responsibility for several important policy areas, including health care and housing. Ms. Almodovar began her career in 1990 at White & Case LLP, a major global law firm with more than 2,400 lawyers worldwide. She was named partner of the firm in 1998. Ms. Almodovar also served as the Administrative Partner for the firm's New York Office's Capital Markets practice, and was a founding partner of the firm's "Women's Initiative," which was aimed at recruiting and retaining women lawyers at the Firm. In 2007, she was named one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics" by Hispanic Business magazine and was awarded the "Government Partner of the Year Award" by The Supportive Housing Network of New York. In 2008, she was named part of the 2008 class of the "DirectWomen Board Institute," an initiative of Catalyst, Inc. and the American Bar Association that seeks to identify, develop and support senior women attorneys who seek to become board members of publicly traded companies. Ms. Almodovar also sits on the board of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. Ms. Almodovar graduated from Hofstra University in 1987, where she was Phi Beta Kappa, and from Columbia Law School in 1990, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
