David von Storch

By the age of 25, Von Storch acquired a Harvard MBA and a job offer from Goldman Sachs. But von Storch was still in the closet, and he feared that corporate life would keep him that way for many years. So he opened the Dakota, one of the first upscale nightclubs in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. It was soon followed by three Capital City Brewing Company restaurants, three Bang Salons and three Vida Fitness clubs. Next year he'll open a flagship location in the now-fashionable U Street neighborhood that will contain all of the above. but when he contracted HIV in 1988 his habits took on a new urgency. Von Storch has had his HIV under control for nearly two decades now, and working out is less about keeping his viral load down as staying young , staying desirable—and staying on top of his business.
